Mile End by Mimodo Architects
This unique property lies in a secluded and heavily screened site, surrounded in its entirety by the rear gardens of neighbouring properties, and fully screened from any public views.
Having previously been a warehouse and later converted to a dwelling, the property had a very impractical layout and was in desperate need of refurbishment.
The existing property consisted of two largely disconnected halves; our proposal sought to reconnect the building via a new re-positioned staircase whilst retaining a large amount of the existing double-height spaces.
An extension was built at ground floor level to create a new kitchen and third bedroom; this was tucked under a new main roof to the property that followed the pitch of the existing roof.
Situated within a Conservation Area, any external changes were limited to the rationalisation of the existing windows, renovating the painted render finish and setting up the infrastructure for our client’s new tropical garden which once established, greatly complemented this peaceful and contemporary oasis within the heart of Bow.
