A Stylish and Colorful Home Blends Contemporary with Rustic Style in Chelsea

London-based architectural firm City Interiors has renovated the Colorful Home project. This stylish contemporary house with rustic living room and double height courtyard, is located in Chelsea, London, England.

Refurbishment in Chelsea by City Interiors

We were introduced to the owner of this house and their architect for this project by an existing client. Following the negotiation of the building contract we started enabling works on site during October 2010.

Apart from the existing staircase position this house was completely remodelled. Extended sideways; at the rear and to optimise the use of our skill sets, a basement was excavated and constructed to fill the entire footprint of the site. This reconfiguration takes the house from sqft to sqft makes way for a new kitchen; dining area, living room and double height courtyard.

The living room features glass floor which transmits light from the glass pitched roof over the ground floor side extension in to the lower ground kitchen space. The family that employed us had recently sold a house in Cale Street that they had completed with Stephen Fletcher Architects and another contractor. This client has amazing energy and despite professional and family demands still manage to execute their vision and develop luxury homes.

We have become a great team and have now also recently finished another house with them in Glebe Place. We can’t wait for the next one! The specification and detailing gets more interesting and refined each time.
