Upper East Side Apartment by Axis Mundi Design
From the Architect: The old kitchen and bathrooms were gutted, as well as the existing mezzanine space. We designed new mezzanines in the living room, and in one of the bedrooms to take advantage of the tremendous ceiling height. Two folded steel staircases were designed to have a minimal footprint and become a sculptural presence. we redesigned the baths and added new kitchen by minimal. The new floors were stained a rich ebony color. A glass railing preserves privacy yet allow light to filter into the study. The dramatic black and white entry gallery features a dynamic black and white tile patten, complimented by some very cool lamps by Serge Mouille.
