CM Apartment by 3C+t Capolei Cavalli a.a.
A 400 sqm (4,305.5 sqft) Apartment on Piazza di Spagna, in Rome, for a couple and his son. «We conceived this project as an architectural object. It is a manifesto of our way to think architecture…»
Contextualization
An apartment in Rome, at the foot of Spanish Step “In the collective imagination, the Rome apartment evokes parquet flooring, moldings and mirrors and wood. We have reinterpreted these themes and have striven to create a refined and contemporary interpretation of the Chic Roman…» Clients’ wishes “Mrs. and Mr. CM. wanted “a touch of Modern” in their apartment.
The project is the renovation of an apartment contained within a modern style building originally designed in 1930. The building is a 5 floor residential block in the center of Rome, surrounded by residential and mixed use buildings. The existing layout consisted of multiple rooms which creating an enclosed feeling within the apartment, the client required a more open plan layout however with the different uses within the space clearly defined.
The existing partitions were removed to create a clearly defined space, keeping only the main structural walls to break the space up creating a constant circulation around the apartment and giving the feeling of a single space.
